Our Xenon HID Kits replace your current headlight bulbs to use the latest Xenon technology, giving up to 300% more light, the colour of the Xenon lights are a lot closer to that of daylight therefore giving the driver a clearer safer field of vision.
Xenon headlamps are technically known as HID lights. HID stands for High Intensity Discharge, and refers to the technology involved. Instead of a glowing filament, the light is generated by a high voltage spark, which jumps across a gap constantly - just like a constant arc of mini-lightning, igniting the Xenon gases thus giving a higher light output than their halogen equivalents.
Below is a easy to see visual showing the comparison between Halogen & HID
Advantages
Quick start up: From starting up to reach full light, halogen lamp takes about 15 minutes, while a HID lamp takes less than 0.001 second to start up and it can reach 85% of its full light in just over 1 second
Extremely long life: In practical terms, the life span of the bulb is equal to that of the car. Service life is at least 3000 hours, (Halogen light is only 500 hours) this means the bulb would never need replacing.
Can be used in daylight as daytime running lights.
Brighter whiter light means you can see and will be seen from a greater distance.
Low power consumption only draws 35 watts from the vehicle's electrical system (Halogen systems draw 55/60 watts)
All connectors and housings are waterproof.
HID Conversion Kits are available for most makes and models of car, motorbike and van.
Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
New legislation has been introduced for 2011 to make Daytime Running lights mandatory on all new passenger vehicles.
Research has shown that these lights will help improve vehicle visibility and reduce the risk of accidents in daylight hours by up to 20% and LED lights are a more cost effective to use in terms of both maintenance and fuel costs than switching on a vehicle's headlights.
ASI stocks the Ring Automotive series of LED lights. These are equivalent to the factory fitted Audi and Mercedes-Benz DRLs.
The Ring DRL LED light is 'E' marked to the daylight running legislation and is fitted with high powered 5000k LEDs and comes complete with an auto detect system, which switches the lights on automatically when the engine is started.
